I use a Timeline brand CG-1000 electronic air filter in my air handler. Electronic air filters, as opposed to electrostatic ones, filter air using a charged electrical grid plus filter pads. I found mine a bit of a struggle to replace, but it has kept my coil completely clean now for 3 years. I just vacuum it monthly, and change the pads about every 3 months. I had to replace the filter assembly after 3 years as the thing failed on me. I would like to hear your experiences.
I learned that the Sharp air purifiers' HEPA filters have an Apatite component to it that apparently provides antibacterial properties to protect the filters from microbial accumulation. Is Apatite a relatively "safe" material to use for an air filter, i.e. is it safe for the resident who is breathing air that comes through the filter? Apatite (a very general term) is usually made up of phosphorus and calcium, but some variants (ie. arsenates like mimemite) may contain arsenic. Could this be a health issue for users? Would the filters use arsenic-based variants in the first place, or are other forms more prevalent and likely to be used in medical/industrial applications?
.........are they better than a Fram really is what im getting at the air filters. I know there oil filters are better......but how about the AIR?
How long do air filters for air purifiers last? Like for a HEPA or non HEPA or what? I heard they can last a year or more. Does it matter how big the air purifier is?
